
Korea’s biggest Faculty of Food Engineering pursues its competitiveness through specialization and professionalization. Also, Korea’s Processed Food Industry Market has taken its place as huge industry exceeding the value of 100 trillion won. Also, it has been setting 5.3% of yearly average growth rate for the past 5 years. In such food industry, “Food Safety and Applied Nutrition Field” and “Functional Food Field” are getting the spotlight as the future trends. In response to these changes, cultivating human resources fitted for social needs- by providing integrated education on food safety securing technology and functional, hygienic, and preventing nutrition- is very important.
Therefore, Chun-Ang University’s Faculty of Food Engineering is trying hard to become the most competitive Faculty of Food Engineering within and among countries by concentrating on the professional research and education in specialized fields.
There are a total of 280,000 professionals working in about 25,000 food manufacturing and processing industries within this country. We have 16 professors and by expanding the entrance quota from 40 to 160, we are cultivating professional manpower to help them to satisfy the needs in food industry at the right time and at the right place. In 10 years, we will become the Mecca where the most food industry professionals come from and the world will have their eyes on us.
