Biotechnology industry that changes the future
Biotechnology(BT) industry plays the key role in international economy as a strategic industry; also, handles the technology and manufacturing needed for the mass production of foodstuffs, various chemicals, physiological active substances, medicine and medical supplies in regards to human survival. Thus, many countries are putting fierce efforts to hold the initiative in the biotechnology industry, and the need for high-quality human resources is rising.
On the one hand, BT is integrated with fast growing Information technology(IT), and developing into IBT; this IBT is allowing the high value biotech material production such as agricultural materials, foodstuffs, medicine, and fine chemistry to be technically and economically possible. International chemical companies such as DuPong, BASF, and Dow are transforming to acquire occupancy of global market, and to achieve such goal, various technologies such as genomics, protein-genomics, bioinformatics technology are developing.
In korea as well, we motivate ourselves to improve in Bio-based foodstuffs and biotechnology industry for the future development in upcoming time. Also, to actively prepare for the global warming and the drain of petroleum resources as a nation state, we are preparing systematic and long-term master plan in the field of biotechnology.
